COR Americas participated in the 2010 ‘Rio Oil and Gas Expo and Conference’ held in Barra, Rio de Janeiro, from September 13-16. The sales team had a booth showcasing product models from Hydroclean and Cougar. The booth attracted many international visitors as well as acting as a hospitality area for clients during sales meetings.

The show culminated with a privately hosted dinner for clients at a nearby restaurant. Following the success of the show, the Americas team will also be exhibiting at the next show in 2012 as well as the Rio OTC show in 2011.

COR Americas Sponsor Bright Light Foundation Event

On October 2^nd, COR Americas sponsored an annual fundraising Golf event in Houston, Texas. The team provided catering for the day to 250 participants, to help raise money for the Bright Light Foundation. The Foundation is a volunteer organization founded in 2003 to provide financial assistance to oil field industry families who have experienced a catastrophic illness.

Being an all volunteer organization allows the foundation to distribute essentially all funds, net of actual event expenses, to families in need. The foundation’s first recipient, Tammy Bright, was a diabetic and had to deal with many complications related to the illness, including heart damage, kidney failure and blindness. Tammy, in name and in spirit, provided the inspiration for the organization’s name.

Families of those working in the oil field industry who are incurring extensive medical expenses associated with a catastrophic illness can apply to the Foundation for financial support. Pressure Control Equipment – COR have it Covered

As part of COR’s continual growth, both in terms of geographical coverage and capabilities, we have heavily invested in new Pressure Control Equipment (PCE) to add to our already extensive product inventory. New equipment including Blowout Preventors, Choke and Kill Manifolds, Diverter Stacks, Accumulator Units, DSA’s and Drilling Spools, Manual and Hydraulic (Chokes and Valves) and much more, are now available from our many operational bases in Africa, America, the Far East and Middle East regions.

Heading up this mammoth task is Global Business Development Manager for Pressure Control Equipment, Fergie Campbell. Fergie has over 28 years of oilfield experience in Well Control and Pressure Control Equipment and is supported by Andrew McDonald, who as Global Operations Manager will head up operations teams for PCE in the Middle East, Far East and Americas.

COR Brasil base opens

COR has further cemented its presence in South America with the opening of our new base in Macae, Brasil. This new dedicated facility comprises of an equipment yard, stocking a large inventory of Drill Pipe and Landing Strings, in addition to Handling Equipment and other Tubular accessories. We will soon have make-up / break out services as well as a more ecologically-friendly self-contained pipe cleaning unit.

Up until now, operators have had limited resources to draw from in South America, so with COR Brasil, along with our other recently opened base in Ecuador and backed up by our regional sales hub in Houston, COR is clearly demonstrating its commitment to providing the best services to operators in this fast developing region.

COR are proud to have been one of the main sponsors of the 2010 ‘International Deepwater and Drilling Conference and Exhibition’, which was held by the International Association of Drilling Contractor (IADC), March 2^nd – 3^rd in Rio de Janeiro. The conference focused on cutting-edge technical advances and challenges for deepwater drilling and completions, in key deepwater markets worldwide.

With COR’s continual rapid expansion into the South America region and recognizing Brasil as a key area for deepwater drilling, it was only natural to help support and sponsor this event. As a member of the IADC, COR mirrors the aims of the IADC, to improve health, safety and environmental practices, quality standards, the ongoing development of technology and services in the oilfield industry.

Additional Services in Ghana

Progress continues to be made in the development of our multiple service facility in Takoradi, Ghana and we have started the importation of state of the art equipment for use in our “on-site” machine shop.

We already have facility to clean and service our own equipment, and feel that this machine shop will further enhance our position of being able to offer a range of high quality support services to our clients locally.

Development in the South Africa region

COR are generating awareness of products and services, through a concentrated marketing drive in the Sub Saharan Africa region. Over the past 7 months the sales team has made an impact, generating over 60 sales/visit reports from over ten countries in the region to spread the word on how COR continually assists operators in the region. This is backed up by COR South Africa’s longstanding history of 14 years of operation as the first and only dedicated rental company in South Africa.

We would also like to congratulate Emmie Van Der Merwe, Executive Administrator for COR South Africa, who is expecting her first baby with her husband Nils this coming August!

Long service, new additions and new contracts

Firstly congratulation go out this month to COR’s Regional Manager, Jim Watson who has completed ten-years of loyal and committed service to COR, particularly to the UAE market, which he has been largely responsible for building up to be one of our most lucrative global markets.

We also take the opportunity to welcome Mr, Adham Machaal and Mr. Mathew Varghese.

Adham brings a lot of local knowledge and, having worked previously as a Drilling Engineer and will provide our clients with a very technical response to their problems.

Mathew has spent a lot of his career in the Middle East region and we are very fortunate to have him join our Company where he brings his extensive product knowledge, particularly in respect to Pressure Control Equipment. He has already made an immediate impact in raising COR’s profile in this particular product line.

The first quarter of 2010 has started well for COR with new contracts being secured in markets such as Yemen, Oman and Syria.

COR has also committed funding to bringing in high-spec drillpipe to support our growing market in this region, which we feel will provide our clients with a technical and commercial solution to their drilling activities.
