COR Ghana
Following the significant discovery of a light oil accumulation in Ghana, it was only natural for COR to open a base in that region. Located in Takoradi, along the coast from the capital city Accra, COR Ghana was established in September 2008 to provide coverage for West Africa. Even though Africa is not perceived as one of the busiest markets in the oil industry, it is viewed as a growth area for COR. Investing in a 10,000 sqm facility, including offices, yard and machine shop, certainly reinforces the message that COR is dedicated to providing the best oilfield rental equipment. This dedicated service centre in Ghana is the first of its kind in the region, providing a one-stop shop for Operators in the oil industry. 8 highly skilled staff currently occupy the facility, 5 of which are local to the area.
Already working with operators such as Kosmos, Tullow and Vitol, COR Ghana are making use of their extensive inventory, valued at over $5 million, that includes equipment such as Drill Pipe, Landing Strings, Tubing, Tubular handling equipment, Drilling Jars, Heavy Weight and Hole Openers. Clients also benefit from the Machine Shop facility which boasts equipment including pipe cleaning and break out machines, grinders for redress of stabilizers and will soon have a hardbanding unit on-site, the only one of its kind in the region. Ghana is also the only location to offer heavy mining equipment including a 12 ton fork lift and a 50 ton crane, as part of COR’s commitment to the energy industry.
